Edward Fierro Herrera, 55 yrs. old, passed away on August 24, 2025. Edward was born in El Paso, Texas on November 05, 1969. During his childhood years, I remember he would talk about what he used to do as a child. He talked about the camping, and fishing trips that the family would take during the summers. He really enjoyed the hunting trips with his father and his brother. After the kill, they would save the meat and bring it back to the house to enjoy the food as a family. Also, His father enticed him to the world of automobiles and auto mechanics. This is when his father opened up his world to many types of cars and owning them. As part of owning them, he was responsible in maintaining and fixing them as well. It is during this time that he became involved in an atmosphere of exploration where he began to take things apart and put them back together again. He used to talk about radios, car parts, toys and all other things he could take apart. He became fascinated with the intricate parts, the labor and the mental capability of it all. Also, he was enjoying the outdoors with his friends on the block. They played until the lights came on. When they came on, that was the signal that it was time to go inside. He also talked about a family trip they took to Canada to view the Niagara Falls State Park. Finally, his football experience that gained him an athletic scholarship to the University of Colorado. He began playing football at Canyon Hills Middle School. He became the best athlete he could be. He had a desire and love for the sport. He gained recognition on the football field and began to make a name for himself. During his time at Irvin High School, his football career began to flourish. His nickname was “Killer” because he was mowing down opponents on the field. He loved his time there and enjoyed it as well. He remembers Coach Shaw and mentioned he was a good Coach. Eddie spoke highly of him.
Eddie was the 7th child out of 8 brothers and sisters. He was attending UTEP when I met him early on as we became friends. He experienced auditory issues and wore hearing aids. This obstacle did not deter him from achieving academically. He later applied to Western Technical College to receive a degree in Information Technology. He got married and had two beautiful children. They bought a good sized home on the Eastside. Their children attended a Catholic school in the Central area. His children did well academically and athletically. And, both Eddie and Laura did well at raising their children who love and respect others. They treat others as they would like to be treated. They maintain a love for family, friends, and others. Eddie was very proud of what he had accomplished. His tears told the story.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 5th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm.
