Eleanor Florence Mitchell

Eleanor Florence Mitchell was born in Rolla, Mo. on April 6, 1931, the fourth child of Lester and Pearl Ann Faulkner. After completing high school in Springfield, Mo., she continued her education at Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Mo., where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education. In December, 1957, Florence was united in holy matrimony with Robert E. Mitchell who preceded her in death in 1985. Robert and Florence became proud parents of a son in 1960. Florence retired after 20 years of service from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1992, where she was employed as Assistant to the Graduate Dean. She was a devoted member of Visitors Chapel A.M.E. Church where she faithfully served for many years as a stewardess. She was also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Eta Iota, Zeta Chapter. The Lord called Florence home on March 11, 2017. She is preceded in death by Sonny Faulkner (Brother), Delos Faulkner (Brother), Odessa Coleman (Sister), Ann Wilson (Sister). She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Tony and two granddaughters, Dominique and Brittany Mitchell of Philadelphia, PA; one sister Juanita Wilkerson of Dallas TX, two nieces: Anna Hughey and Tracie Parker of Dallas, TX; two nephews: Arthur Lee Willis of Kansas City, MO., Travis Parker of Dallas, TX. and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 4-8pm at Martin Funeral Home Central 3839 Montana Ave. 79903. Funeral service will be Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:30am at Visitors Chapel A.M.E. Church 518 N Estrella St. 79903. Interment will be at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
