Enriqueta Rojas, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2021 at the age of 84. Enriqueta, lovingly known as ‘Queta’, was born on March 6th, 1937 to Enrique and Amparo Macias. She was the eldest of six and grew up in Segundo Barrio. Being the eldest, she took on the immense responsibility of helping raise her younger siblings during some turbulent times.
She would then meet the love of her life, Eduardo, and soon marry upon his return from his tour in the Navy. They celebrated sixty three years together until his passing in 2018. Their family would soon grow with the birth of their daughter, Maria and then their son, Eduardo Jr. Queta worked for Toys by Roy for twenty years and many miscellaneous jobs previous to it. She said her greatest job was being at home and providing for her family and community in every way possible. She was a celebrated cook and you were guaranteed to have a plate of food if you were to visit her. In her later years, she was active in community centers, taking her grandchildren on vacation, and volunteering at Crockett elementary school. Her humbleness, kindness, and motherly nature will be missed by so many.
Enriqueta is preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Amparo Macias, her husband, Eduardo Rojas Sr., and her son, Eduardo Rojas Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Reyes, (Angel Reyes) four grandchildren, Angel Reyes Jr. (Stephanie Reyes), Eduardo Rojas III (Amanda Rojas), Michael Reyes, Erica Reyes, and three great grandchildren, Dominick Rojas, Matthew Rojas, and Elijah Reyes. Enriqueta was also a loving motherly figure to many individuals who came into her life, her kindness and uplifting advice was given to many without reciprocation. They too were very much loved by her.
The family would like to thank Vista Hills Health Care Center for their compassion, patience, and kindness they provided during the later months of her illness.
