Estela Gamboa passed away peacefully in her sleep January 24, 2019. She was born on November 20, 1933 in El Paso, Texas and was a lifelong resident. She loved El Paso and the people. Her parents were Alberto and Consuelo Gamboa. She graduated from Jefferson High School, “La Jeff” in 1953. She was voted most beautiful and popular and her beloved friends and family called her “La Tachuela.” She was a homemaker and raised her family and later in life started her business “The Sand Dunes Ballroom” for seventeen years that she operated with her children. Her work ethic and business acumen were second to none. She was the most kind and gracious lady any child or grandchild could know. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend and now angel in heaven. Her contagious laugh was loved and heard by all the people she touched and could brighten any room or warm any gathering. She made every event special for her family and especially her grandchildren, whether it was feeding us well, or always attending to us and feel like her own kids and that’s why we her grandchildren all called her “mom”. Light radiated from her life every step of the way and showed in the many people she touched and the large amount of friends and family she always had coming back to see her. She is survived by her children, Denise Pacillas, Yvette Nelson (John), Michelle Carrasco (George Jr.) and Ral Pacillas; three grandchildren, Jacqueline Nelson, Troy Nelson and Chloe Pacillas; Brothers Albert Gamboa Jr. (Esperanza), Frank Gamboa (Mary), Sister Consuelo Silva (Nicolas) and many beloved nieces and nephews . She is preceded in death by her parents; Brother Ramon Gamboa (Julia), Sister Luisa Alvarado (Benjamin Sr.)
Visitation will be held Sunday January 27, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday January 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Rd. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert Gamboa Jr., Frank Gamboa, Ramon Gamboa(Deceased) and Benjamin Alvarado Jr.
Pallbearers will be Ral Pacillas, John Nelson, Troy Nelson, George Carrasco Jr., Albert Gamboa III and Frank Alvarado.
