Jack was born July 29, 1937, in Riverside, CA, and passed away in Lubbock, TX, on November 3, 2023. His parents, Billie F. Harmon Apperson and Joe Apperson, named him Jackie Lee, and divorced when Jack was age 3. About five years later, his mother married W.H. “Frosty” Frost, and his stepfather adopted him soon after, at which time his name was changed to Jack Lee Frost. As the family grew, Jack became a loving big brother to his two sisters, Lu Juana Zane (Robert) and Susan Williams (Rodney).
Jack finished high school at Gadsden High School, Anthony, NM, where he played the drums in the school band, and enjoyed learning to rope and ride. During these years, from the age of 15, Jack worked after school and weekends at Frosty’s Truck Stop, operated by his stepdad, in Anthony, NM. Following high school, Jack briefly attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, where he took basic courses and, in his spare time, learned to dance, a pastime that he thoroughly enjoyed the rest of his life. Jack later joined the U. S. Army, and served as an SP4, stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA.
After finishing his military obligations, Jack returned to Anthony, NM, bought a semitruck and trailer rig, and began his career as a self-employed, over-the-road truck driver, hauling produce and other goods from NM and TX to CA and back. Over the years, Jack purchased additional trucks and trailers and, for many years, was Owner/Operator of Jack Frost Refrigerated Trucking Co., based in El Paso, TX.
During these years, Jack married Lisbeth Hale and two children, Joely Frost Harris (Jeffrey) and Thomas Jackson “TJ” Frost, deceased, (Missy Frost Carter), were born to this union, which ended in divorce.
Several years later, Jack married Susan Spencer of Carrizozo, NM, and the couple enjoyed a long and eventful marriage until Susan’s recent death on October 26, 2023. During these years, Jack and Susan worked together running the trucking business and enjoyed many fun vacations, as well; water and snow skiing, dancing, going on guided chuck wagon trips to Montana, and driving their RV all over the USA. To top it off, after selling their business, Jack and Susan built a vacation home in an American retirement enclave in San Carlos, Mexico, and divided their time between their home in Carrizozo, NM and Mexico. They made many wonderful friends in San Carlos, with whom they enjoyed their retirement years fishing in the Pacific Ocean, golfing, and working on various charity events.
And, when in the States, Jack enjoyed spending quality time with his four grandchildren, Trevor Mack (Brittany Mueller), Avery Robinson (Taylor), Olivia Beth Easterly, Ciara Benson and his great granddaughter, Sophie Mack. One of the family’s happiest memories is of watching Jack dance to his heart’s content at Avery and Taylor’s recent wedding reception. Jack was deeply loved by his entire family, including numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and by his many, many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, November 11, 2023, at the church he so dearly loved, St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 510 East Ave., Carrizozo, NM; and the Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 pm, November 13, 2023, at Evergreen East Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12400 E. Montana, El Paso, TX, with Father Don Spafford officiating both services.
