

Joseph Glenn “Butch” “Bubba” Maya born February 15, 1959 passed away February 15, 2017 peacefully surrounded by his friends and family. He was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Eastwood High School attended El Paso Community College and UTEP. He worked at several successful jobs throughout El Paso including the Jaycees before he dedicated himself to the El Paso Democratic Party. He served as a Democratic Precinct Chair in the Album area, an Election Judge throughout the city and was elected the El Paso County Democratic Chairman and served for close to 3 years before becoming ill. He organized County and State Democratic Conventions and directed many fundraising events for the Democratic Party. During his tenure as Democratic Party Chair, Butch spent his time inviting and encouraging our elected and State officials to be more proactive with El Paso and the Democratic Party.
He leaves behind a loving mother Rose Maya, a brother John Maya, sister-in-law Terrie, nephew John Joseph, aunt Mary, uncle Eddie and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jose and Filomena Bustamante and his father Juan Maya.
Viewing services will be held Tuesday February 21, 2017 at 6pm, rosary at 7:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home 3839 Montana Ave. Mass will be held at St. Raphael Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm followed by burial services at Mt. Carmel 401 S. Zaragoza Rd.
