Dear Cortes Family,
  Mr. Cortes was the first principal I ever worked with in the Spring of 1991 when I was student teaching at El Paso HIgh; he was a great mentor who I've never forgotten. Twenty-five years later, I'm still following his advice! So sorry for your loss.

The Bowie Alumni Association, Inc. sends it's condolences to the Cortes family on the passing of Mr. Cortes. May he rest in peace, thoughts and prayers with the Cortes family.

Because of my upmost respect for  his wisdom, guidance, and immense kindness, I light a candle.  He shared so much and gave me the strength and peace I needed to always move forward.  I feel most fortunate to have crossed paths with such a humble man with such great dignity.  My condolences to the  family.

Mr. Cortes remains one of the best principals I have ever had the good fortune to work for. He allowed me the freedom to explore my abilities as a teacher and gave me the opportunity to learn from my mistakes, always without ridicule or reprimand. I fondly think he secreatly got a chuckle out of some of my wildest ideas! 

Mr. Cotes was instrumental in building my confidence as an educator. He  gave me the assurance I could trust him when I approached his office with a request for guidance or for his valued opinion. I loved him as an administrator and friend.

I was fortunate enough to know Mr. Cortes not only as my principal, but also as a friend. He was GENUINELY a kind and caring man. He passed those best qualities on to his family & everyone he was around. He was DEFINITELY 1 of the good ones. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
