Macie Lynn Kennedy (nee Woodside) of Timberon, New Mexico passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at age 89. She was born on July 30, 1931 in Mexia, Texas to Oscar and Alta Ruth (nee Richardson) Woodside. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clarence Aubrey Kennedy.
A beloved educator, Macie had a full life that included teaching English and typing for over 30 years in Texas public schools, raising two children and building two mountain homes from the ground up with her husband, family road trips from Texas to Alaska, reading the lion’s share of the mystery books at the Alamogordo Public Library, and enjoying many years with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a voracious reader and gifted student, graduating high school at age 16 and Sam Houston State University at age 20. She taught in Orchard, Kerens, and San Isidro in the lower valley until 1960 before finishing her career at Austin High School in El Paso. After retiring from teaching, she and Clarence moved to their home in the Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico where they raised and showed miniature horses.
Macie loved black coffee, big dogs, and long rides in rugged vehicles. Her life will be remembered by those who loved her through her caring friendships and her unconditional love for her family.
We will cherish many fond memories of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in our hearts. Especially traveling with her across America the beautiful and sharing holidays with family in the mountains.
