Margaret Rose (Daisy) Ponce de Leon was surrounded by her family in prayer as she peacefully went into the Arms of the Lord on November 12, 2022. She had fought a brave and arduous battle against cancer, never wavering in her Faith.
She held on firmly to her Faith in God throughout her life becoming an ACTS sister and serving Him at Our Lady of the Light Church. There she was a member of the Finance Committee, helped to organize the annual bazaar, volunteered in the Church Kitchen and was Catechist and an RCIC teacher. Her friendship and warm smile will not be forgotten by those she taught and served with.
Margaret Rose will be greatly missed. She was the LIGHT in our family. She shared her humor, her positive attitude and encouragement with others. She loved her family and valued her friendships. It was evident in her attentive messages to both.
Her LIGHT now shines brightly with Our Heavenly Father.
She was born on June 4, 1957 in El Paso, Texas to Tony and Carolina Ponce. Her nephews and nieces were her “babies” and she cared, worried about and loved each one. She was a registered Dental Assistant for twenty years, yet her love of children led her to become a paraprofessional for the El Paso Independent School District where she will be remembered by her students and co-workers for her passion, dedication and sense of humor.
Margaret Rose was preceded in death by her father, Tony Ponce, her siblings, Michael, John Edward and Anna Marie Delgadillo, sisters in law, Maria Teresa Ponce, Aurelia Ponce and Elizabeth Ponce.
She is survived by her mother, Carolina Ponce, her brothers, Anthony (Dolores), Robert, Daniel (Jeri), nieces, nephews, Godchildren and extended family.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave., El Paso, Texas 79903 on Monday, November 28, 2022. Visitation from 4:00 – 8:00 PM with Vigil at 6:00 PM. Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday November 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Light Church, 4700 Delta Dr., El Paso, TX 79905. Committal Service to follow at 1:00PM at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Ave. El Paso, TX 79938.
