With broken hearts but everlasting love, we announce the passing of Marina Minerva Ontiveros, who entered eternal rest on December 4, 2025. Marina was born on August 7, 1970, in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, and spent most of her life in El Paso, Texas, where she built her home, her family, and her legacy.
Marina lived a life rooted in faith, love, and presence. She began every morning in prayer and ended each night the same way—speaking to God, thanking Him, and lifting the people she loved into His hands. Her faith was not something she practiced; it was who she was.
She was a devoted mother, a guiding voice, and an unwavering source of strength to her three children: Raul Ontiveros-Covarrubias Jr., Lucero Ontiveros, and Luis Alberto Ontiveros. But her greatest joy, her true delight, was becoming “Titoy” her version of grandmother. To her family and everyone who knew her, Titoy wasn’t just a title; it was a promise. A promise that if you called, she would answer. If you needed her, she was already there. Her signature phrase, “Aquí estoy,” was not just words, it was her identity. Her presence was love, her love was refuge, and her existence was blessing.
Marina had a gift for people. She could turn anger into laughter, strangers into friends, and conversations into lifelong memories. Her advice was golden, real, heartfelt, honest, and always exactly what you needed to hear. She carried wisdom lightly, never forcing it, but offering it like a warm plate of food placed in front of you with love. And oh, her food, the best food. The kind that made you want seconds even when you were full. The kind you remembered long after the plate was empty. She cooked not just meals, but moments, traditions, and love served hot.
Marina also carried a beautiful thrill-seeking spirit. She loved airplanes, roller coasters, and the flying chairs that made her feel alive and free. That rush reflected her character; fearless, joyful, unafraid to embrace life’s wild and beautiful moments, the highs and the lows.
Marina is survived by her loving husband, Raul Ontiveros Sanchez, and by her children, Raul Ontiveros-Covarrubias Jr., Lucero Ontiveros, and Luis Alberto Ontiveros all of whom will forever carry her strength, her faith, and her love. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her love, her laughter, and her unwavering “Aquí estoy” will echo in our hearts for the rest of our lives. Her legacy is not in what she owned, but in what she gave; faith, love, presence, and the certainty that no one she loved ever stood alone. Her voice, her prayers, and her eternal “Aquí estoy” remain. Her love did not end, it transformed. She will continue to guide, protect, and comfort us, just as she always did.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm with a vigil at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903. Funeral mass will be Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama St, El Paso, TX 79930.
