Mary was born July 11, 1937 in Serafina, New Mexico, to Margarito and Luisa Dimas.
She married the love of her life, Alfredo, in 1955. Together, they spread the good news of Jesus Christ and His Church throughout various cities in Texas, finally settling in El Paso, Texas in 1967 where they were instrumental in furthering the work among the Spanish brethren of the Church of Christ.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Alfredo Sierra. One daughter, Sarah (Byron) of El Paso, and two sons, David of Horizon City, and Will (Lorena) of Horizon City. She is also survived by six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mary leaves behind numerous brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Mary was a hard worker, working only while her children were in school so that she could maintain her duties as a devoted wife and mother. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was a wonderful cook and home maker. She also enjoyed gardening and oil painting, but her greatest joy was pleasing the Lord in all that she did. If you said to her, see you tomorrow, she would always add, Lord willing. She was a righteous and Godly woman and will be greatly missed. Now, Mary is rejoicing along with the Saints in heaven who have gone on before us. Those of us who were blessed to have known her await our reunion with her when the Lord calls us home. What a day of rejoicing that will be!
Mary was a three time cancer survivor and courageously fought her last bout with the disease for two and a half years. Our family would like to thank Texas Oncology of El Paso, and the wonderful staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, Texas.
Lastly, Mary reminded her family that this is not farewell, it's see you on the other side! We love you Mom!
