Vicente Santa Cruz Chavez

Vicente Santa Cruz Chávez, age 82, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on November 1, 2022 in El Paso Texas. He was respectfully known as “Abuelo, Papi, Chente, Carnal, Compadre, Tío, Padrino” to his loved ones. Mr. Santa Cruz was born in Cd. Chihuahua, Chihuahua on July 18, 1940 to Martha Elena Chávez de Santa Cruz and Vicente Santa Cruz Escobar. His memories of his childhood were vivid and full of details; he always made you feel like you were walking in his shoes. He recalled his father as a hardworking and intelligent man and his mother as a strong lady that loved helping people. Mr. Santa Cruz lost his father too early in his life and he was positioned to take the paternal role for his family. He was a loving and nurturing older brother to his three younger siblings- Jesus, Sergio, Clemen, and cousin, Lupe. His family energized him and he always held an open door to help guide them through life.

Mr. Santa Cruz received a diploma as ‘Contador Privado Secretariado from Instituto Comercial in Cd. Chihuahua, Chih. His family moved to Cd. Juárez, Chih in the late 50’s and he started a loyal career with Ford Motor Company in 1961 and retired in 2009. He began his career at Bush Juárez, SA, in Cd. Juárez, where he was promoted to increasing levels of responsibility and became a respected leader as the general manager of the service department. After 10 years, he accepted an opportunity as a service advisor at Kemp Ford in El Paso, Texas. Though he was met with the challenge of learning a new language in a different environment, Mr. Santa Cruz demonstrated perseverance and dedication to his work. He recalls his commitment to adapt and Mr. Maury Kemp’s encouragement to persevere. He was passionate about his job, his coworkers, and his clients. He had people and businesses from Cd. Juárez and El Paso bring their vehicles for servicing. His coworkers always recalled a line of clients waiting for him upon his return from lunch. He was an excellent mentor to young service advisors and was known to give sincere advice to many. The passion and kindness he exhibited is often what is remembered by those he has served.

He married Eloísa Avila de Santa Cruz on July 22, 1967. They met at a dance and his perseverance prevailed to a beautifully harmonized marriage of 55 years. They had two children, Leticia and Vicente Jr., who both graduated from Burges High School and the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Mr. Santa Cruz was known as a selfless, loyal, loving, and persistent person whose courage led to building a beautiful life for his family. His goal was for his children to have the best education possible and for them to have everything he was not able to have growing up. He loved to laugh and spend time with extended family and friends. He loved to watch boxing and became a soccer fanatic supporting ‘El Tri.’ He spent his retirement years in the company of his beloved wife and his longtime friends from his early Ford days in Juárez. He also spent time cheering and learning about his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and successes. His grandchildren will always remember his raspy voice and the joy he emitted in their conversations. Mr. Santa Cruz will continue to serve as role model whose life story will serve to motivate generations to come.

Mr. Santa Cruz is survived by his wife Eloísa, Daughter Leticia Guerra (Husband Genaro Alan) of El Paso, and Son Vicente Santa Cruz, Jr (Wife Raquelina) of The Woodlands, Grandchildren Carlos Alejandro, Andrea Elena, Aarón Vicente, Darina Alessandra, Ariana, and brother Sergio. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jesus, sister Clementina, and cousin Guadalupe G. Santa Cruz.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 from 4pm to 12:00 Midnight with 6:00 PM Rosary/Vigil Service at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East Funeral Home (12400 Montana Ave., El Paso, Texas). Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:00 AM Saturday, November 12th at St. Mark Catholic Church (1170 Pebble Hills, El Paso, Texas) with interment to follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.

Vicente Santa Cruz Chávez, de 82 años, falleció pacíficamente en la comodidad de su hogar el 1 de noviembre de 2022 en El Paso Texas. Era conocido respetuosamente como “Abuelo, Papi, Chente, Carnal, Compadre, Tío, Padrino” por sus seres queridos. El Sr. Santa Cruz nació en Cd. Chihuahua, Chihuahua el 18 de julio de 1940 a Martha Elena Chávez de Santa Cruz y Vicente Santa Cruz Escobar. Los recuerdos de su infancia eran vívidos y llenos de detalles; nos hacían sentir como si estuviéramos caminando en sus pasos Recordó a su padre como un hombre trabajador e inteligente ya su madre como una mujer fuerte que amaba ayudar a la gente. El Sr. Santa Cruz perdió a su padre demasiado pronto en su vida y rápidamente asumió el papel paterno de su familia. Era un hermano mayor amoroso y cariñoso para sus tres hermanos menores: Jesús, Sergio, Clemen y su prima Lupe. Su familia lo llenó de energía y siempre mantuvo una puerta abierta para guiarlos a través de la vida.

Recuerda su compromiso de adaptarse y las palabras de aliento del Sr. Maury Kemp para perseverar. Le apasionaba su trabajo, sus compañeros de trabajo y sus clientes. Tenía gente y negocios de Cd. Juárez y El Paso traían sus vehículos para servicio. Sus compañeros de trabajo siempre recordaban una fila de clientes esperándolo a su regreso del almuerzo. Fue un excelente mentor para los jóvenes asesores de servicio y era conocido por dar consejos sinceros a muchos. La pasión y la amabilidad que exhibió es a menudo lo que recuerdan aquellos a quienes ha servido.

Se casó con Eloísa Ávila de Santa Cruz el 22 de julio de 1967. Se conocieron en un baile y su perseverancia se impuso a un matrimonio bellamente armonizado de 55 años. Tuvieron dos hijos, Leticia y Vicente Jr., quienes se graduaron de Burges High School y de la Universidad de Texas en El Paso (UTEP). El Sr. Santa Cruz era conocido como una persona que siempre pensaba en los demás, leal, amorosa y persistente cuyo coraje lo llevó a construir una vida hermosa para su familia. Su objetivo era que sus hijos tuvieran la mejor educación posible y que tuvieran todo lo que él no pudo tener mientras crecía. Le encantaba reír y pasar tiempo con familiares y amigos. Le encantaba ver el boxeo y se convirtió en un fanático del fútbol apoyando a 'El Tri'. Pasó sus años de jubilación en compañía de su amada esposa y sus viejos amigos de sus primeros días de Ford en Juárez. También pasó tiempo animando y aprendiendo sobre las actividades extracurriculares y los éxitos de sus nietos. Sus nietos siempre recordarán su voz ronca y la alegría que emitía en sus conversaciones. El Sr. Santa Cruz continuará sirviendo como modelo a seguir, cuya historia de vida servirá para motivar a las generaciones venideras.

Al Sr. Santa Cruz le sobreviven su esposa Eloísa, su hija Leticia Guerra (esposo Genaro Alan) de El Paso y su hijo Vicente Santa Cruz, Jr (esposa Raquelina) de The Woodlands, sus nietos Carlos Alejandro, Andrea Elena, Aarón Vicente, Darina Alessandra , Ariana y su hermano Sergio. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, su hermano Jesús, su hermana Clementina y su prima Guadalupe G. Santa Cruz.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el viernes 11 de noviembre de 2022 de 4:00 p. m. a 12:00 p. m. con servicio de vigilia a las 6:00 p. m. en Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East Funeral Home (12400 Montana Ave., El Paso, Texas). La misa fúnebre se llevará a cabo el sábado 12 de noviembre a las 9:00 a. m. en la iglesia católica St. Mark (1170 Pebble Hills, El Paso, Texas) y seguirá el entierro en el cementerio Evergreen East.
