WES. A young man who had a great big heart. Enjoyed life to the fullest. His laughter said it all. When he first arrived to the NEC at Ft. Bliss, we became good friends, especially when I mention to him about a quad bike I was looking to buy. We rush to his house for a show and tell and well I bought my own ASAP. My last ride along side with WES was so much fun. I tipped my quad on its side. We laughed so hard. We were actually cruising at five miles an hour. He said that I looked like circus bear learning how to ride. Luckily I had just installed a winch. A plan to ride to Cattlemans steak House in Fabens Texas from red sands was in the books. I will have to take this ride in honor of my buddy. We both enjoyed going to the range and shoot at targets, and of coarse always going to different restaurants for lunch.(Mushroom Burgers). Riding on old trains was also in the books. My honey and I will be doing the trip soon also. May you rest in peace my friend and may god bless you.

Wes was a good guy. He was here at Fort Polk for a short period of time, but made an impression on me. He was a jokester and a wealth of knowledge when it came to motorcycles. I know when he was not able to ride anymore it took something out of him. The last time we talked was over a fence to his next door neighbors house, about my business and the loud kids in the yard. We laughed when one of the kids stated that the Principle that spanks us used to live in his house. He always was doing something. Ride high my friend. You will be missed.

While Wes certainly passed sooner than he should have, Wes also lived a full life. We shared a love of motorcycles. He made rides that I am envious of. Trips to Alaska and others. We shared memories of trips we had both made and talked about trips we would like to make. On my last long distance ride, he was a wealth of local knowledge. He had made the same journey years before and knew just what I would have wanted to see. He was a good friend.

Wes taught me, my wife and my 3 youngest kids how to camp. He decided to take us to Death Valley to see the Pup Fish and camp there! The fish only show up for a short time in early spring. We spent the night there, but no Pup Fish! We still had a lot of fun! The following weekend, my youngest son tried to build a campfire like "Mr. Wes". Only problem was, my son tried to build the campfire in the garage! Wes got a big kick out of that! Fond memory.
