Gina Marie Welch

Gina Welch passed away on May 5, 2026 surrounded by family, laughter, and music.

She started her life journey on February 14, 1963 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was raised by parents Bob and Lupe Opp and grew up with two older brothers and two younger sisters.

She graduated from College View Academy in 1981 then attended Union College (Union Adventist University) with an associate degree in Accounting in 1983. Later that summer, she married the love of her life, Randy Welch, on June 12 at the College View Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Gina and Randy lived in Lincoln until a new job took them to Boulder, Colorado in 1989. There, she gave birth to her two beloved children, Stephen and Rebecca. Colorado is where the family cemented their roots including frequent trips to Estes Park!

In 1993, the family moved to Silicon Valley in California. While Randy excelled at his new tech job, Gina enjoyed her time as a full-time mother filling Stephen’s and Rebecca’s lives with warmth, safety, and love.

While her children attended Miramonte Elementary, Gina volunteered in the classroom, transitioned to head of the Home and School board, then eventually worked full-time as an accountant in the school’s office. For over 20 years, she was a fixture at Miramonte and spread her love with generations of students, teachers, and parents.

Food was one of Gina’s love languages. As an accomplished cook, her Miramonte hot lunches were beloved by all the students, especially her macaroni and cheese. Additionally, Gina was involved in the local homeless feeding ministry, where her food nourished the larger community. Through her gracious spirit, Gina became a “mother” to everyone around her.

Back at home, Gina was a voracious reader and a true Scrabble fanatic! Her family spent more than a few late nights trying to keep up with her many triple word scores.

In November 2023, Gina and Randy retired to Estes Park. Every morning, she brewed a warm cup of coffee and filled in a fresh crossword puzzle while enjoying the spectacular view from their mountain home.

Gina was preceded in death by her dear mother, Lupe. She is survived by her husband Randy Welch, her children Stephen and Rebecca, her father Robert Opp, her brothers Bobby and Cody, and her sisters Christy and Karla.

A Family and Friends Gathering will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service Estes Park Chapel, 1302 Graves Ave., Estes Park, CO 80517, US, on May 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

A Committal will take place at Estes Valley Memorial Gardens, 1672 Fish Hatchery Rd, Estes Park, CO 80517, US, on May 16, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
