Bernard Mario Cassar

Bernie graduated from Valencia College majoring in Film Production and enjoyed a fulfilling 30+ year career in the film industry as a freelance filmmaker, assistant director and production manager; and was a proud member of the Directors’ Guild Association. Bernie’s greatest passions were for family, cars and travel.

He is survived by his wife, Samantha Middleton; sons, Nigel (Whitney Costner) and Elvis; stepsons, Austin Pedersen (Jami), Holden Pedersen (Rain), and Nathan Pedersen (Hannah); grandchildren, Riley, Madeline, Kristen, and Eleanor; brother, Jon Cassar (Tina); sister, Kristine Cassar Palsis (Carey); and several nieces and nephews.

Bernie was known by many names - Papa, Bern-Bern, B, and his favorite, Bubs…. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son-in-law and friend. His sons and grandchildren find comfort in the knowledge that they were truly fortunate to have the world's BEST father and grandfather. Well known for his love of fast cars, F1 racing, camping, travel, coffee & chocolate, adventuring and anything having to do with his family. He walked in generosity and kindness every day with a steadfast dedication to those close to him that made you feel protected, warm and loved. All that combined with a quick and dry wit that livened every conversation and left everyone around him with a smile. Bernie loved fiercely like no other, and taught all those close to him what it felt like to be truly loved.

Anyone that knew Bernie was better for it. He was a true gift and blessing to all of us.
