

Arthur A. Gann, 69, of Evansville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at IU Methodist Hospital. He was born October 30, 1945, in Evansville, to the late Henry and Dorothy (Yaser) Gann.
He served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He graduated from the University of Evansville where he earned a Masters in Criminal Justice. For 29 years, he served as an Evansville Police Officer and retired in 1998, after eight years as Chief of Police. He was a graduate of the FBI Academy. He served as the president of the Fraternal Order of Police on both the state and local levels, and was a past president for the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police. He also served on the boards of Keep Evansville Beautiful and Youth Resources. After retiring from the Evansville Police Department, he was the Director of Security of Bristol Myers and Mead Johnson, until retiring in 2013.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Kay (Temme), in 2013; son, Jeffrey Gann; and sister, Dorothy Gann.
He is survived by his daughter, Christina (Greg) Hager; sons, Adam (Shelley) and Andrew (Shannon) Gann; grandchildren, Henry, Grace, Elias and Isaac Hager, Cameron Born and Harper Gann, and Adalyn Kay Gann; brother, Daniel (Sharon) Gann; and nephew, Brent (Christine) Gann.
A Celebration of Life service will be held11:00 AM Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at One Life West, 1301 W. Lloyd Expressway, Evansville, IN 47710, followed by entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
