

Betty June (Gore) Freeman, 94, of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Evansville, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016, at Oaks of Mayview in Raleigh. She was born June 20, 1922, in West Frankfort, IL, the third of four children to the late Everett L. and Myrtle C. (Poag) Gore.
She grew up in Evansville and attended Reitz High School, graduating in 1939. She spent most of her married life in Evansville and Louisville, KY before moving to Raleigh, NC in 2001, where she resided until her death. She worked as a secretary in the 1940's at International Harvester, where she met her husband, Loren Freeman, and was married in 1943. They remained married 54 years until Loren's death in 1997. Betty was a homemaker, wife, and mother. She loved animals and nature, a passion that she handed down to her children and grandchildren. She had a wonderful laugh, which was extremely contagious, that would often reduce her to tears of pure joy.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Freeman; and her siblings, James Gore, Joseph Gore, and Geraldine Snyder.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Robison of Youngsville, NC; son, Jeffrey Freeman (Laurie) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Lauren Freeman and Ryan Freeman; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2016, at Alexander East Chapel, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Guests are invited to gather together in the family center at Alexander Memorial Park immediately following entombment services. Friends may also visit Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
