

He graduated from the University of Evansville and earned his Master's degree from Indiana University. He retired from Mt. Vernon High School where he taught Chemistry for 38 years. Bruce was instrumental in starting an education class for a GED diploma in Mt. Vernon. After retirement he was in the real estate rental business with relatives. He liked to travel, enjoyed family outings and get-togethers, and liked to eat out. He was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Clara (Spieker) Schuessler; brothers, Melvin and Walter Schuessler; and nephew, Brian Schuessler.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joan (Gallagher) Schuessler; daughters, Jennifer Schuessler of Indianapolis and Julie (Denis) Gentry of Newburgh; son, Jeffery (Anne) Schuessler of Evansville; step-sons, Kevin (Angie) Gallagher of Evansville, Shawn (Rebecca) Gallagher of Huntingburg, IN, and Brian (Rita) Gallagher of Evansville; two grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brother, Pete (Betty) Schuessler of Mount Vernon; sister, Emma (Richard) Foster of Indianapolis; nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jack Arney, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park.
