Carol loved to travel, especially to places with historical significance or to visit relatives in her mother's birthplace in Science Hill, KY. She enjoyed spending time with her husband hosting family at their river camp off Old Henderson Road. Carol was an avid reader, especially books relating to the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. In 1951, while pregnant with their only child Carolyn, Carol and her husband Ray built their home on Felstead Road. Ray had purchased the property to run his hunting beagles prior to his tour of duty in WWII.
Carol attended St. Mark's Church on Hogue Road and worked at the Evansville Store as an elevator operator, at Whirlpool as a home economics engineer, and at Mead Johnson as a secretary. She retired from Deig Brothers as a receptionist.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Ray, only daughter Carolyn, and her four sisters: Dorothy Newcomb, Sara Wittgen, Wilma Bowman, and Imogene Wilson. Surviving are her granddaughters, Heather Orsburn (Rob) of Canal Winchester, OH; Haley Tallman of Evansville; and Chelsea Martin Dunbar (Daniel) of Evansville; several nieces and nephews including Molly Merrick of Plano, TX, Annie Alcorn (Nick) of Santa Claus, IN, and Eric Wittgen (Darrell Burke) of Atlanta, GA; and her honorary grandson and caregiver, Joseph Renow of Evansville.
