She was a strong, kind, and loving mother to her children Bruce Maurer and his wife Sandy, Dawn Horton-Krack and her husband David Krack, and Tim Wargel and his wife Tammy. Her infant son, Kevin Ray Maurer, preceded her in death 1959.

Schmidt and Robert “Bob” Schmidt, step-father Edward Mann, step-brother Clarence Mann, step-sister Vernita Mann, father-in-law Louis “Bud” Wargel, mother-in-law Anna Marie Wargel, and brother-in-law Wayne Wargel.

This foundation was established by our cousin Shannon French Holt who since October 2010 continues courageously in her own cancer journey.
