

Cliff was born March 8, 1924, in Petersburg, IL to the late Harry P. and Edna (Boehm) Hill. He grew up
in a rural area and rode his pony to school every day. He attended a one room school house where his
job was to arrive early and build a fire to warm the school for the day. After high school graduation he
attended welding school and moved to Evansville to work on the LSTs in the shipyard. In the evenings he
was a rink master at a local skating rink where he met his future wife, Dorothy Wade. They married in
1945 and he was drafted into the Army. A veteran of WW II, he was a true member of the ‘Greatest
Generation’.
Cliff retired from George Koch and Sons after 30 plus years of service. He was very active in his senior
years. He was a member of the Hadi Shrine and enjoyed dancing, bowling, skiing in the Colorado
mountains, boating, golfing and woodworking.
Surviving Cliff are his six children, daughters, Barbara Ungetheim (Tony) of Cumberland, TN, Karen
O’Bryan (Mike) of Southlake, TX, Debby Carr (Bill) of Evansville, Jean Hunt (Dave) of Evansville;
sons, Bob Hill (Mary) of Indianapolis, and Don Hill (Lynn) of Evansville; 15 grandchildren, and 38
great-grandchildren.
Cliff was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Wade, his parents, sister, Marjorie Hillyer; brother,
Edward Hill; grandchildren, Carrie Cook and Tom Bitter, Jr., and great-grandchild, Landon Hunt.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Browning Funeral Home
738 Diamond Ave., Evansville with Rev. Mark Sirnic officiating. Entombment will follow at Alexander
Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit at Browning Funeral Home on Friday, October 13 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a
Hadi Shrine walk through and Masonic service following at 7:00PM. A short visitation will be prior to
the funeral service on Saturday from 10-11:00 AM.
