Mary L. Helms, 71, of Evansville passed away at 11:30 am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Good Samaritan Home.
Mary was born May 1, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky. She retired from the City of Evansville as payroll supervisor after 28 years and also received a Key to the City from Mayor Frank McDonald, Jr. in recognition of her dedication and service to Evansville. Mary loved dining out and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Terry Helms; daughter, Marci Scheller (Mike), of Evansville; grandsons, Matt Scheller (Abby), Andrew Scheller (Leslye) and Kevin Scheller (Catherine); 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jan Sharp; brothers-in-law, Jerry and Tony Helms and nephews and families.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty (Keown) Edlin and siblings, Margaret and David Sharp.
The family extends a special thank you to her loving home caregivers, Tanya and Sara and also the loving, caring staff of Good Samaritan Home and Heritage Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville with her grandson, Pastor Andrew Scheller officiating. Burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3 pm until 8 pm, Monday, February 6, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel and again from 9 am until time of service at 10 am, Tuesday.
