

Patsy Ann (Bowman) Abernathy, 83, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, November 29th, 2017, at her home. She was born January 28th, 1936, in Tell City, IN, to the late Thomas and Mary (Little) Bowman.
She worked as a hair dresser for many years, the Whirlpool Corporation, and was a member of the Local #808. Patsy was also a member of the First Baptist Church and was the president of her Sunday School Class, known as the Come Double Class. She was also a member of her Church's Joy Group and volunteered as the Attendance Record Keeper. Patsy was affiliated with the National Campers and Hikers Association for 50 years, was a member of the Germania Maennerchor Ladies Auxiliary for 28 years, and was an accomplished quilter. She was also a member of the Rainbow Quilting Club. Patsy loved to sew, camp, and was an avid collector.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Van Winkle, Georgia Williams; and her husband of 55 years, James Abernathy.
She is survived by her sister, Lois (Don) Ayer; brother, Tommy (Judy) Bowman; daughter, Angela T. Gore; stepdaughter, Janet A. (Randall) Decker; stepson, Jeffrey T. Abernathy; granddaughter, Kelli L. Upton; and great-granddaughter, Marissa Forston.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 4th, 2017, at Alexander Memorial Park – Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, officiated by Pastor Steven Claspell, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel.
