

Shirley A. Foerster, 84, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Deaconess Gateway. She was born February 20, 1933, in Evansville, IN to the late Willis Napoleon and Lennie Myrtle (Ennis) Galloway.
Shirley attended Rheinlander Grade School and graduated from Reitz High School in 1951. She then attended Lockyear Business College and USI School of Art. For five summers she volunteered as a resident at Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake, WI, where she worked in the Troster Center in ceramics. She loved to paint, doing mostly portraits, and most recently made barn quilts. Shirley enjoyed designing and making clothing for her grandchildren and quilted dozens of quilts with her sisters. On August 16, 1968, Shirley married the love of her life, Winston Foerster. Through the years she worked as either an administrative assistant or supervisor for Shane's, Standard Oil, American Cancer Society, USI, Census Bureau and Forest Hills Baptist Church. Shirley loved going to Reitz and Rheinlander reunions and her monthly card parties at Bob Evans. She also enjoyed watching her son, Blake, and grandchildren, Melissa, Mollie and Jackson play in Reitz marching band contests. She loved music and had a beautiful voice. In the past two years, she taught herself to play piano. Shirley's main focus was her family, whom she loved to cook for at all their gatherings.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Winston Foerster; three brothers; and 10 sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Kyle (Rosie) Conner, Sam (Amy) Conner and Blake (Lisa) Foerster; daughter, Faith (Danny) Wheeler; grandchildren, Kaci Wheeler (Nick) Leaf, Sarah Conner (Andrew) Flowers, Melissa Conner (Chad) Schenk, Emily Conner, Mollie, Jackson and Charlie Foerster, and Olivia and Allison Paddock; great-grandchildren, Evan, Elaina and Reid Schenk; sister, Janet Abney; sister-in-law, Charlene (Homer) Christensen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 15, 2018, at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 2800 Hartmetz Ave., Evansville, IN 47712, officiated by Pastor Tyrone Edwards, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel.
