

Velma L. (Homburg) Johnson, 92, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Braun's Nursing Home. She was born October 26, 1921, in Evansville, to the late Walter and Verna Belle (Wilson) Homburg.
She was a member of Assembly of Faith Church, Robert Morris Chapter 87, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Order of the Amaranth #14, VFW Auxiliary Post #1114 and a past Senior Queen of Vanderburgh County 1989. She was a Nurse's Aide at St. Mary's Medical Center and a Senior Aid for Cape.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Johnson, in 1985; sister, Helen Lord; brother, Jack Homburg; and daughter, Teresa Meredith.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Johnson of Evansville; grandson, Mickael Johnson; granddaughter, Trinity Johnson, both of Portland, OR; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Brenda Steproe, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
