

Charles Otto Bucher, 90 passed away peacefully in his sleep Jan 19, 2025 in Lake Stevens. He was born at home in Lake Stevens on Aug 22, 1934 to Otto and Anna Bucher. Soon after the family moved to East Everett. His sister Marie (Micki) was born 2 years after Charlie.
Charlie's Swiss heritage was very important to him. His dad, Otto, had been born in the German part of Switzerland and came to Washington when he was 11 years old. Charlie's mom, Anna, was born of Swiss parents in Washington. Charlie liked to practice his German with anyone who would listen.
Charlie grew up mostly in Snohomish area where his parents ran a dairy farm.
He graduated from Snohomish High School, Everett Jr. College and Central Washington College majoring in Elementary Education.
Charlie taught Elementary school for 25 years, first at Coulee Dam then Morton, Renton and finally most of his career at Lake Stevens.
In 1971, he married Barbara Quanbeck whom he had met when they both were teaching at Mt. Pilchuck Elementary in Lake Stevens. They went on to raise two sons, Matt and Peter.
Charlie enjoyed traveling, especially when he was young. One summer while he was single, he took a vacation around the world. From Vancouver B.C. By ship with an extended tour in Europe. He and his family took several camping trips mostly to Montana and North Dakota, cruises to Alaska and Norway, and trips to Hawaii and Switzerland.
Hobbies-small woodworking projects, reading non-fiction books, listening to classic country music and watching football on TV.
Clubs- Monroe Swiss Club, Lake Stevens senior center, attended Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
Preceded in death by son, Peter Bucher; parents, Otto & Ann Bucher; sister, Micki Jergensen; brother-in-law, Oliver Jergensen.
Survived by loving wife, Barbara; son, Matt Bucher; daughter-in-law, Tina; grandson, Logan; 2 brothers-in-law, Ronald (Susan) Quanbeck and Larry Quanbeck (Kathy); 2 sisters-in-law, Nancy (Marty) Klotovich and Marcia (Russell) Miller.
Charlie will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community for his patient and easy-going personality.

Charlie's Celebration of Life will be held on February 20th, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Ebenezer Lutheran Church 2111 117th Ave NE Lake Stevens, WA. There will a be light lunch to follow in the fellowship hall.
