

Dennis died on October 24, 2015 at Providence Everett Medical Center at the age of 81.
Dennis was born to Adolph and Iris (Dunsdon) Wegenast on August 31, 1934 in Edgeley, ND where they lived until 1950. They moved to Portland, ND where Dennis graduated from Portland High School in 1952.
In 1956 he married Dorothy Mae Steineke and was later divorced.
On December 29, 1961 Dennis married Virginia Joy Potter in Fargo, ND. In June of 1962 he began his career with the Department of Commerce and remained a Federal Employee until he retired in April, 1994. After retirement, he continued to work as a geodetic consultant until failing health forced him to retire again in 2007.
Dennis and his family moved to Everett, WA in 1979.
His life was blessed with 4 children, Jeffery Scott Griesen, Kelly Jeanette Christman of Vancouver, WA, Lori Denise Osburn of Stanwood, WA and Daniel A. (Sharon) Wegenast, of Snohomish, WA.
Dennis loved working in the yard and playing with his grandkids. In later years he enjoyed searching for distant family and published a Family History for his Wegenast Family in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, 3 children, 9 grandchildren, (Theresa, Nikki, Nicole, Denise, Brendan, Kyle, Jake, Cody, and Anna), 8 great grandchildren, (Alexis, Alex, Braxton, Ben, Carter, Dani, Josie and Aaron) who were the light and joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Dawn Iris (David) Holter of Hatton, ND and his brother, Dean Orel (Gail) Wegenast of Fargo, ND, 4 nieces and 2 nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother in 1978 and his father in 1985and his son Jeff in 2012.
The family will be eternally grateful for the kind and compassionate care they received at Providence.
A celebration of his life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church on October 30 at 1:30 pm.
