It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of two beloved sisters, Doris “Dot” Jean Hederich (Mease) and Evelyn “Peanut” Louise Hughley (Mease). Both sisters were born in Haywood County, North Carolina and departed from this world within a mere week of each other, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. They are preceded in death by their parents Ulas and Edna Virginia Mease (Warren) and sister Edna Josephine Ingle (Mease). They leave behind their siblings Margaret King (Mease), Rosalie Dunkin (Mease) and Stan Mease.
Doris began her journey in life on May 14, 1939 and passed away on August 14, 2023 surrounded by family at her home in Granite Falls, WA at the age of 84. She was a pillar of strength for her family; with a warm smile, she was always willing to lend a listening ear and a big hug – especially to her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Doris is also preceded in death by her husband Ted Hederich; her sons Larry Melton, Daniel Bruce Melton, Michael Steve Melton, Kenneth Melton, and Ernie Marker. She leaves behind her sons Bobby Melton, Jim Melton, Jon Ray Marker and daughters Barbara Fox (Melton) and Beth Marker; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was born January 10, 1944 and peacefully went home to the lord on August 9, 2023 at the age of 79, at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA with her sister Margaret by her side. She loved her family fiercely and had a zest for new experiences and making memories. She is also preceded in death by her son Keith Duane Jones. She leaves behind her children Bill Jones, Donna Jones, Stanley Allan Jones, Betty Carlucci (Jones), Leslie Zibell (Sannes), Rebecca Sannes, and Margarett Carlyle (Sannes); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Both sisters approached life with an insatiable sense of adventure and tenacity. Whenever life would lead them down separate paths, they somehow always found their way back together. Bonded by their conservative values (MAGA 2024!) and an unshakable belief in Jesus Christ, both Doris and Evelyn approached challenges with courage and determination, inspiring everyone fortunate enough to know them. Their passing has left a void in the family that can never be filled, but their memory will live on through the stories we share and the love they planted in our hearts. Their bond was a testament to the power of sisterhood—a connection that transcends words.
