Emily Jane Skipley - Barker

Emily Skipley-Barker was born in Lowell, WA on November 29, 1919. She died peacefully in her sleep on April 24, 2013 in Marysville, WA. Emily is preceded in death by her parents; Elmer and Selma Burke, her sister; Marion Burke Marine and sister; Betty Burke Curran, first husband; Lawton Skipley, second husband; Lloyd Barker, and by stepson; Larry Barker. Emily grew up in the Lowell area of Everett where she attended school until the eighth grade. The family later moved to Seattle where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937. In 1939, Emily married Lawton Skipley. Emily and Lawton had four children, John Skipley (Rosalie), Mary Florio (Mike), Barbara Bryce (Sam), Patti Wirz (Allen), and stepson Dennis Barker. She had eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Emily loved her family and had a passion for being around her grandchildren. She always had a fun personality and a real spunk about her. Emily will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 1:00 PM. It will take place at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery – 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA. A light luncheon will take place following Emily's graveside service.
