Long-time resident of Lake Stevens, Washington, James Rhode White, known by his friends and family as Jim, unexpectedly passed away on January 30, 2024 at the age of 68, happily reunited with his parents and brothers again.
Born in Kansas City, Kansas on December 10, 1955 to Betty Alice and William Willard White, Jim was the youngest of four boys: Bill and John White, who precede him in death, and Martin White, a resident of Canal Fulton, Ohio. Although born in Kansas and spending some time in California, Jim was a Wyoming Cowboy through and through.
Two years after graduating from Star Valley High School Jim served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aliquippa Pennsylvania. He served others diligently, believed strongly, and prayed faithfully. He enjoyed reading scriptures with his wife and did so every night, even when they couldn’t be together.
Jim was tender hearted, quick witted, and gave the very best hugs. He had a strong mechanical inclination, a sharp mind, a keen eye, a kind and playful disposition, and the ability to fix anything.
Jim married Shawn Denise Pamula on October 26, 1979 in Laramie, Wyoming, just over 44 years ago. They faced many challenges, but through the good, the bad, the happy, the hard they always chose each other. They enjoyed their Sunday game nights with thinly sliced apples, golfing, and tasting the many delicious desserts he would make. Shawn lives with multiple stage-four cancers, and Jim was her loving caregiver for the last twenty years. He took care of her like none of us could or will ever be able to.
Capitalizing on his many talents, he had a long career in the petroleum equipment industry - starting his career at Foster’s in Laramie, Wyoming, and then with Hartsook Equipment and Pump Company in Cheyenne. Jim moved his family to Washington State in 1989 to join Ace Tank and Equipment Company, where he worked in various roles ranging from salesman to service manager to CEO, until 2004, when he moved to Portland, Oregon’s Mascott Equipment Company, where he worked until his retirement in 2023.
Jim leaves behind his children, Camelyn Elizabeth Sant (Clifton) and James Robert White, his wife, Shawn White, grandchildren, a brother, nieces, and many who called him their best friend.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cowboy, teacher, boss, mentor, and friend. He filled many roles and touched many hearts. A self-described goofy guy, who loved drawing, golf, listening to music, puttering around his woodworking shop (i.e. the garage); and especially his fourteen grandchildren who he loved to cook, golf, draw and play the piano with. He will be so deeply missed by everyone who loved him.
A funeral for Jim will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 8522 131st Ave SE Snohomish, Washington 98290. There will be a viewing for those who wish to give their condolences from 12:30-1:45. Everyone is encouraged and welcome to come celebrate his life whether in person or through the zoom link below.
