I Wish You Enough
by Bob Perks
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough “Hellos” to get you through the final “Goodbye.”
On Thursday, May 26th, Jean Alexander passed away at the age of 84. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Jean will be greatly missed.
Jean was born and raised in Ohio and is survived by her brother, Frank Szekely (Pattie). She joined the U. S. Navy where she studied to become a nurse and met the love of her life, her late husband, Donald Alexander. The U.S. Navy discharged pregnant women at that time, which allowed her to raise five thoughtful children while Don continued serving in the U.S. Navy abroad. Instead of taking care of injured soldiers, Jean nurtured five caring adults who now take care of others after her loving example.
Although Momma loved her Mentos and a great latte, Jean’s favorite interest was her family. Known as Grandma Jean or Gramma Rose, she enjoyed spending quality time with all her grandchildren, whether it was dancing to Herb Alpert and the golden oldies, winning her way to Reno through Bingo jackpots, cooking the world’s best chocolate chip cookies, or playing a mean game of cribbage – she played to win.
Titles were many for this generous person: a wise older sister, a devoted daughter, an esteemed schoolmate, a dedicated nurse, a loving wife, a comforting mother, a true and loyal friend, and a spoiling grandmother. Momma was the nosy neighbor everyone knew and loved for being exactly herself.
Remembering Jean will be easy for everyone who knew her and should bring a smile to their face. She wanted every moment to be enjoyable and every person to be at ease with her. Whether she just met you or she had known you all her life, Momma wanted you to have a hug. She was a great hugger who knew people would feel better if she could share her love with you. Jean’s wit, charm, and grace provided great comfort to everyone she met.
Jean’s proudest accomplishment is her five surviving children and their families, Don II, Missy (Kim), Kelly Jean (Brian), Justina, and James; four grandchildren, Grady, Nathan, Destiny, and Jackson; and her great grandson Seamus.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Everett. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully suggests memorial contributions to Jean’s favorite charities: Special Olympics and Disabled Veterans of America. Please enjoy a shot of Baileys in her honor.
A special Thank You to the staff at Providence Hospital and Genesis Everett Center for the outstanding care and respect given to Jean and her family.
Enough.
