Nancy J. Black, age 82, died peacefully in a hospital near her home in Everett, WA, on March 5, 2022, following a short struggle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James C. Black.
She was born August 17, 1939 in Tacoma, WA, to Rudolf and Marguerite Eisenberg. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1957.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother to four daughters. Through the years, she enjoyed supporting her daughters’ activities, playing bridge, gardening, reading, following sports, especially the Mariners and Seahawks, and participating in various community service activities such as Mobile Meals. She was an active member in First Presbyterian Church in Marion, OH for many years and enjoyed helping with the children’s choir, Sunday school, and quilting fellowship. She worked in fashion retail for many years. In Everett, WA she worked as a dental receptionist for 15 years in which she enjoyed the many patients she interacted with.
Nancy will be greatly missed by her daughter Liesl (Black) Kershner and husband, Jim (Maple Valley, WA), daughter Kyra (Black) Anderson and husband, Dan (Walton, KY), seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many loving nephews and nieces.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were blessed to be able to spend time with Nancy. She will be fondly remembered by them as "GG" or "Glitzy Grandma".
After her husband Jim's passing, Nancy went into a new season of life. She moved to Cascadian Place and resided there for 8 years. Nancy was able to meet new people and make several strong friendships. She enjoyed playing bingo, working puzzles, gardening and taking walks with friends. Nancy enjoyed a lifelong passion for serving others. This of course continued at the Cascadian where you could often find Nancy arranging flowers and taking care of them for all the residents to enjoy. She also gave her time alongside other dedicated residents to make sure that the Cascadian was decorated festively for holidays and special occasions.
There will be a memorial service on March 23 at the Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203, at 3:00 pm PST. A livestream option will be available to those who cannot attend.
