Paul Austin Doherty

Paul Doherty, 68, of Marysville, WA, joined his loving wife Elma in heaven on November 10, 2016.

Paul was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and spent his early childhood in Suntrana, Alaska. He moved to Palmer, Alaska where he graduated from high school and picked up his lifelong hobby of automobile repair and mechanical skills.

After high school Paul joined the Navy and served 4 years aboard the U.S.S Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War.

Following the Navy, he settled down in Washington, meeting and marrying his soul mate Elma and began building their life long home surrounded by loving family.

Paul worked for 35 years at Edmonds Community College starting out as an instructor. He moved into the maintenance and facilities department and then to telephony and finally retiring as the Director of Facilities.

He loved the outdoors including fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed road trips to the coast and sightseeing with Elma. Of course, spending time with his family would always bring a smile to his face. He was always there to help friends and family with many, many projects, gladly adding his skills, humor and infectious smiles.

The affliction of losing his soul mate took its toll on Paul, but we know they are together now and smiling down upon us.

Like Elma, he was taken away too soon, but he’s left us with a lifetime of memories filled with love, joy and humor that will not be forgotten.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Philip Vincent Doherty; mother, Mary Katherine Williams; and wife Elma Allen Doherty.

Paul is survived by his three sons Frank Doherty, James (Debbie) Doherty and Michael (Marissa) Doherty. He leaves behind grandchildren Caleb, Lauren, Ava, Conner and Quinn and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly by his siblings Phil (Martha)Doherty, Mark (Evelyn) Doherty, Kit (Tom) Porter, and Charlie (Merlie) Williams.

A Service will be held at 10:30AM followed by Graveside services at 11AM at Evergreen Funeral Home, Everett, WA on Wednesday November 16, 2016.
