
Riley Gordon Taber was born on January 18, 1936 in Decatur, Illinois to parents Riley John Taber and Madge Odessa Stark. He passed away in Arlington, WA on Thursday, September 5, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Riley enlisted in the US Army on April 19, 54 honorably discharged on April 18, 58 but was kept on reserve status until April 18, 62. He achieved Private 1st Class and received a National Defense Service Medal Good Conduct Medal. After the Army Riley went to barber school and worked for more than 30 years doing this. He also worked many years in Metal Polishing business, and started his own business providing janitorial services called Rely Specialty Services.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and road trips, especially when his family joined him. They drove across the US some of the many places they went to includes: WA, OR, CO, CA, ID, AZ, IL, FL, NM, TX, OK, MO, KY, UT, AK, and IN. He enjoyed amusement parks and taking his family to them. Epcot Center and Disney World where he got Mabel to go on Space Mountain in Orlando FL, Disney Land in Anaheim CA, Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park CA, Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver BC where everybody but Mabel rode (at that time) the world’s largest wooden roller coaster.
He married Mabel Eileen Taber on April 23, 1960 in Lake Stevens, WA.
Riley was preceded in death by his mother and father, twin siblings, his sisters Dana and Maribel, his bothers Johnny and Bob. He is survived by his wife Mabel Eileen Taber, his children Becky, Katherine and Darryl, siblings Ruth, David, and Fredrick. His grand-children: Christopher, Keith, David, Christina, Justin, and April. His great-grand-children: Chaun, Ethan, Jessica, Ozland-Riley.
Services will be held on September 21, 2013 at 1:00pm at Christ Community Church in Granite Falls WA, 401 Wabash Ave, Granite Falls, WA 98252 Memorial Donations can be made directly to Mabel Eileen Taber and will be used for the payment of Riley’s final resting place.
