Stephen "Steve" Charles Leathart was born in Seattle to Maud and Charles Leathart on November 16, 1954 and left us too soon on October 3, 2010. He grew up working at the family drugstore, Woodland Park Pharmacy in Fremont. Steve attended both Lincoln and Ballard High Schools and earned an engineering degree from the University of Washington. His passion was drumming and after graduation he spent 10 years touring with various bands including Sluggo, Travis Shredd, Pink Torpedos, Innercity Romance, Rocks, Shaker and Nitespell. He then began a career in the construction industry and was a partner in Caruso and Fredericks, and president of Comfort Zone. He was currently president of the Washington Weatherization Association. He continued playing in bands on weekends including Wyze Acre and Rock Society. He died suddenly of a heart attack after a great gig with Go Ask Alice. Steve was always the funniest, smartest, most loyal friend in any room. He made everyone feel special. He will be remembered for his humor, encyclopedic knowledge, kindness, generosity, and tremendous talent as a drummer and singer. Somewhere he is still singing, playing the drums and making jokes.
Steve is survived by his sons, Eric and Keith, his sister, Barbara Peterson, his ex-wife Lorie, his loving girlfriend, Carol Hillis, numerous extended family, and more friends than can be counted.
A celebration of his life will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway in Everett on October 16 at 2pm.
A musical tribute to Steve will be held at the Temple Theatre, 47 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma on November 14 at 5pm. We love you and miss you!!
