He was born in Gary, Indiana to Arnita McClinton and William Dowdell. As one of six children, he was close to his siblings.
They will remember him most for his disarming smile that could light up any room and for his kind and generous spirit. Despite any personal struggles or hardships, William never failed to express his love towards his family.
William was strong willed, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. His infectious laugh will never be forgotten. He was loving, loyal, and brave. William was incredibly intelligent. He mastered all things sports without much effort. He loved skateboarding and snowboarding in particular. Above all these things, he loved music.
You’d never catch him without headphones listening to music. Willie D was exceptionally gifted in writing music and composing beats. He had a great ear for music and had a way of making music that was both introspective and unique, his talent knew no bounds.
One of William’s happiest memories was his family vacation to Lake Chelan in 2020. He was surrounded by his loved ones and enjoyed every moment of the trip. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family. We wish so much that we could rewind the days and feel the completeness as a family again that we felt those days together in the sun with him.
He is survived by his mother; Arnita McClinton and his Grandmother Gwendolyn McClinton, his father William Dowdell, his siblings; Victor McClinton, Salena Barnes, Matthew Dixon, Mark Dixon and John McClinton.
He also leaves his Great Aunts; Eunice Williams, Denise Gilleylen and Eugenice Brown, His Uncles; Juan Duff, Kevin McClinton and Maxwell Kinsley, his nephew Elliot Miller, his nieces Desiree Dixon and Melody Dixon and a multitude of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory until he wakes up and we can see him again.
