

Arlene May Kuntz was born in Wauseon, Ohio on October 5th, 1925. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Albert Steingroot. She is survived by her daughter Karen Kawelmacher, her son Gary Steingroot, her precious grandchildren Matthew and Joshua Kawelmacher, and her great grandson Kaden Kawelmacher.
Arlene grew up on a farm in Ohio. She loved the outdoors, the plants and all the farm animals, especially the big cows. Arlene was quite athletic when she was young and was known to climb trees and jump onto the cows for fun. After graduating from business school Arlene worked for the City of Toledo, Ohio. She met the love of her life, Albert Steingroot, in high school and they married on her 21st birthday in 1946.
Arlene loved her family more than anything and enjoyed gardening, flowers and birds. She moved to Sacramento in 1962 and worked for Elk Grove Unified School District for 35 years at Kennedy and Leimbach Elementary Schools in the office and library.
Arlene was very strong, living an incredible 99 years with joy and love in her heart every day. Arlene always had a sweet smile and shared her light heart with everyone she knew. She was a kind and hard-working person, and her family was blessed to have her in their lives. Arlene was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Arlene’s family gives special thanks for the tender loving care, and for the many calls, visits and cards. The family is grateful for her many caregivers and the Sutter doctors, nurses and staff who cared for her.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March. 17th at 1:00pm at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park. Arlene will be interred at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery in Fair Oaks, CA. with her husband and mother.
