Barbara Joan Tucker (Johnson) was born on October 8th, 1930 at Pekin Hospital in Pekin Illinois to her parents Raymond Johnson and Dorothy Hill. She was an only child until her sister June was born 10 years later. Barbara grew up and went to school in Illinois.
After graduating high school, she went to school at Independence Sanitarium and Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1952 with a nursing degree and worked as a pediatric nurse for many years until retiring in the early 1990’s. After retiring she did a lot of traveling. She was an active member of the church and dedicated much of her time there. She loved to play the piano and read in her spare time.
Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep just after midnight on Sunday May 9th, 2021. She is survived by her three sons Greg, Roy, and Mark, sister June, grandchildren Chrissy, Josh, Jessica, Jennifer, Kyle and Cody, and great grandchildren Derek and Keaton. Barbara will be laid to rest at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary in Fair Oaks where we will have a service in her remembrance on Friday June 11, 2021 at 10:00AM.
