

Christine Alberta Loop, age 90, of Fair Oaks, California passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023. She was born in San Francisco, CA on December 25, 1932 to Albert and Ramona Schmidt. Her parents met at the San Francisco Opera Theatre where Albert played the violin and Ramona sang opera. At the age of three, her father was tragically taken from her life after losing a battle to pneumonia. In 1961, she met Frank Lee Loop when they went on a hiking trip with the San Francisco Singles Club. After dating for three months they became engaged and married on October 7, 1961.They stayed in San Francisco and had their first baby girl, Rosemarie Loop on October 6, 1962. Shortly after giving birth to Rose, they moved to Sacramento. They rented an apartment across from William Land Park, where Christine would take Rose to Fairytale Town almost daily. They lived there for almost 2 years and then bought a house on Quinby Way in Sacramento. This was the home where they welcomed their second daughter, Annamarie Loop, who was born September 10, 1964. After four years, they bought a larger home on Conrad Drive. In 1971, Frank accepted a job in San Francisco so they rented out their home in Sacramento and returned to San Francisco. In 1973, they moved back to their home on Conrad Drive. Frank and Christine decided to divorce after 23 years of marriage. It was not until the girls were 10 and 12 that Christine went to work. She worked for the State of California, first for the Department of Motor Vehicles and then for the Department of Water Resources. She retired from the state at the age of 62. Christine had three half siblings, Richard, Diane and Robert. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramona and Albert, her half-brother Robert and one of her grandchildren whom passed away in May of 2021. She is survived by her daughters and three grandchildren. Christine loved basketball and enjoyed watched King’s games as well as watching her grandchildren play basketball. She never missed one of their games. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was the most loving, caring, and forgiving person you could ever meet. She will be extremely missed. Services will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park on May 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow the services. The reception will be held on the second floor of the main building at Mount Vernon.
