Edward grew up in Richmond, and at the age of 18 enlisted in the Army Air Corp to serve his country. As he walked in to enlist, his brother-in-law Roy Hansen, was being discharged. (Interesting coincidence.) He served as a fireman and as a photographer. As a photographer, he photographed the top of the world, post WWII.
He worked in various sales jobs, selling shoes at Newberrys Department Store, selling cars at Cortese Ford and Jack Amick Motors in Auburn, and lastly was the founder of CU Auto Sales where he brought together the car dealerships and credit unions to streamline customer service and satisfaction in car sales.
He loved to fish, camp, and had a passion for lighthouses. He was the groundskeeper of the Umpqua River Lighthouse in Winchester Bay, Oregon, and later became a passionate tour guide of the lighthouse.
Ed met and married the love of his life, Pauletta Jean Pedrick, in 1954. He had five children David, Larry, William, and twins, Rebecca and Richard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his son, Rick and his longtime companion, Faye Daugherty.
Ed has ten grandchildren: Geoff, Brooke, Dustin, Brett, Jessica, Jason, Philip, Tara, Tammy, and Brenda. He has sixteen great grandchildren: Gavyn, Bayley, Kaleb, Hannah, Zachary, Justin, Colbey, Isaiah, Edward, Kai, Chase, Jesse, Summer, Mitchell, Wyatt, and Justine.
Ed was humble, tender hearted, down-to-earth, slow to anger, and always smiling. He welcomed everyone into his world with open arms. He took all things in life in stride. Ed will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him!
