Elvira (Vera) Solorio, age 85, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 30, 2017.
Vera was born in Guasti, CA on December 14, 1931 to Francisco and Francisca Herrera. Vera was raised in Ontario, California, where she met Bobby Solorio. Bobby and Vera were married in Ontario and then moved to Rancho Cordova in 1958. There they raised their four children; Bobby Solorio, Cynthia Solorio, Sharon Michener, and Andre Solorio. Vera was an incredible cook and worked in various Sacramento restaurants for over 60 years; only retiring after a stroke in July of 2010. She remained living independently in the family home until she went to be with our Lord.
Despite having a stroke, Vera continued to be the kind, generous and loving person she had always been. Although her family did miss her culinary skills after her stroke they still enjoyed her assistance in the kitchen. She also loved to spend time with family and friends. Vera’s appreciation and love of life will be greatly missed as those closest to her learn to live with only her memory.
Vera is survived by her brother Frank Herrera (Elena), four children: Bobby Solorio, Cynthia Solorio, Sharon Michener (Mike), and Andre Solorio; grandchildren: Kevin Johnson, Kristen Fritts (Jeff-Spouse), Frank Solorio (Martha-Spouse), Glyn Long, Stephanie Solorio, Andrew Solorio, and Jackie Michener; and great grandchildren: Mason Fritts, Sadie Fritts, and Jeremiah Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby Solorio (husband) , brother Rudy Herrera, sister Concha Armenta, and daughter-in-law Jan Solorio.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral mass on January 6, 2018 and 11:00am at St. John Vianney Church in Rancho Cordova. The family will host a reception following the mass. Private burial will be at a later date.
