Faye Hammond

Faye Hammond, April 4, 1923-April 7, 2012, has entered her heavenly home. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will live forever in the hearts of her children. Faye’s children include Freida Cleverley (Dick), Sandie Crockett, Bert Andrews (Nola), and Wanda Stewart. Her dearly loved step-children include Karen (Larry) Egan, Elizabeth (Tim) Johnson and Howard Hammond. Paul Hammond, her cherished husband for just over 50 years, predeceased her in 2009. She leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

Faye worked at McClellan Field for several years before retiring to enjoy a life of gardening and travel. Family was everything to her and her biggest delight was cooking for them and her extended family. Her home in Sutter Creek was a gathering place for all on holidays and special occasions. Her Thanksgiving dinners were memorable (a pie for every person!) and often included neighbors and friends of her children. This continued after they returned to Rio Linda to be closer to her children.

Her family expresses a special thanks to all of those who cared for her in her final years, among whom include Jan Cowling who cared for her at her home until we placed her into the care of Courtyard Terrace whose caregivers treated her with kindness, devotion and love. We are truly grateful for all the care given to our dear mother. Services will be held Friday, April 13th @ 10:00 AM at Mount Vernon Funeral Home, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks.
