Glenn Lester Olsen Sr., age 82, passed away on January 8, 2026, surrounded by family who loved him deeply. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Glenn lived a life defined by family and the relationships he held close. He lived most of his life in California, including many years in San Jose, and retired in Redding. In his younger years, he was often known as Olee, a name remembered fondly by many.
Glenn proudly served his country as a United States Air Force veteran. After his military service, he built a long career as a technical illustrator.
On December 15, 1967, Glenn married Cinda, and their lifelong partnership was a central part of his life. Together, they shared a favorite pastime: “making memories” in every way they could, from creative projects to road trips, always cherishing time spent together and with family. A man of Lutheran faith, Glenn placed family at the center of his life. He embraced not only his immediate family, but also his nieces and nephews and the friends of his children, whom he fully considered part of his family.
Glenn loved to create and invent. Woodworking and oil painting were passions, and he took joy in building, fixing, and creating beautiful things. He was also inventive, designing practical solutions for everyday life, including his well-known Working Quilt Rack and the Cup Garage, small examples of his ingenuity and creativity.
Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cinda Olsen; his brother, George Olsen; and his parents, George and Pearl Olsen. He is survived by his children, Glenn Olsen Jr., Roy Olsen, and Robin Frosh; his grandchildren, Sara Olsen, Amber Frosh, and Summer Frosh; and his brother, Gary Olsen.
Glenn will be remembered for the central place his marriage held in his life, the importance he placed on family, and the creativity and care he brought to both his projects and the people he loved.
A memorial service honoring Glenn’s life will be held on Saturday, January 31, at 12:00 noon, at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, California.
