

Born on a farm in Texas County, Missouri, on December 20, 1919, the oldest of four children and only son of parents Gustavus Adolphus Pipkin and Inez Melvina Shilling Pipkin, Gus Pipkin entered into eternal rest on February 9, 2016.
Gus married Constance Maxine Brown of Kansas City, Missouri on May 31, 1942 and entered military service soon thereafter where flying became his life’s passion. Based in Italy he served as a B-17 pilot, flying his 25 missions over Germany in 1944-45. He served also in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War before retiring from the USAF in 1966. After residing in southern California’s San Fernando Vally for 20 years, where they made life-long friends at Reseda Baptist Church and Gus experienced a career highlight serving as Information Officer at the Spruce Goose exhibit in Long Beach, Gus and Connie relocated to northern California in 1988 where they found a new church home at Sunrise Community Church in Fair Oaks.
Predeceased by his parents and sisters Barbara Allen and Katherine Wilkinson, Gus is survived by sister Ruby Vaughan of Osage Beach, Missouri; his wife of 73 years, Connie Pipkin of Folsom; son Terry Pipkin of Northridge, CA; daughter Dixie Foote and her husband Bob of Folsom; grandchildren James Pipkin, John Pipkin and Elizabeth Wiser (James); Robert Tracy Foote (Cecilyn); Teri Putnam (Aaron); great grandchildren Madison and Marley Foote, and Ella and Ethan Putnam. Gus is also survived by his loving and devoted nephew Don Allen of Dallas, TX and his wife Margy.
The family expresses its thanks and appreciation to staff at Brookdale - Folsom and Vitas Hospice, and dear friend Donna Dews, for loving care given to Gus this past year.
Services will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, February 18, 2016, Visitation 12:00 noon, Graveside Service 1:00 p.m., Memorial Service 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception on the 2nd floor of Mount Vernon’s main bldg.
