

She was born on November 20, 1921 in Ventura, CA to Hans and Jeanne Vockeroh. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth, first husband Jerome Bisaillon and second husband Robert Vollmer. She is survived by daughter Catherine (Nelson) Hickling; son Gregory (Nancy) Vollmer; and daugther Susan (Barry) Stavness; grandchildren Sean Kelleher, Kristie Piatt, Michael Vollmer, Bryce, Trevor, Kevin and Blake Stavness; great grandchildren Coleton and Cooper Kelleher and Eisley Stavness.
Having moved to Eureka, CA with her family in 1942, Irma worked in a defense factory making ammunition boxes during WWII. There in 1944 she met and married her first husband Jerome Bisaillon who was stationed with the Coast Guard. They moved to Oakland, CA where she worked at the Oakland Army Hospital in the transcription of patient's medical charts. After his death in 1948 she met and married Robert Vollmer in 1950. In 1965 they relocated to Salinas, CA for Bob's employment with Peter Paul Candy Co. She worked in the Sears Catalog Dept. for ten years. Bob died in 1988.
She began her lifelong love of ballroom dancing in Oakland, and later in Monterey, CA as a member of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She loved her family, and enjoyed gardening, walking and writing poetry. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society. She was active in both the Catholic and Episcopal Churches.
She will be greatly missed.
Irma will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Salinas, CA. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at Sunrise Community Church, 8321 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks, CA, 95628 on Friday, July 12 at 1pm with reception to follow.
