Jacqueline Marie Cologna, age 85, passed away Friday evening, January 26, 2019. She was born on April 26, 1933 in San Francisco, CA and was the eldest child of the late Nick and Rose D’Andrea. Growing up on 42nd Avenue in the Sunset District, some of her fondest memories included her experiences at the Sutro Baths, Playland, Golden Gate Park and the San Francisco Zoo. Being the rebel that she was, she often spoke of her parties at the beaches in San Francisco and Russian River. Jackie stayed in the Bay Area for college, attending San Jose State University where she earned her degree in Education. She went on to teach grades K-3 for nearly 12 years. In 1957 she met Max Cologna and they were married a year later on August 23rd 1958. In 1959 Max and Jackie gave birth to Paul, the first of their 3 sons. Max and Jackie lived in Daly City until 1978 when they moved to San Mateo. They called San Mateo home for 37 years before relocating to Roseville, CA to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Jackie was a beautiful, patient and willful wife and mother in a home full of men. You could always count on Jackie for her quick wit and smart remarks, but her sarcasm was balanced by her deep empathy for others. She was a compassionate listener who was sure to develop a deep bond with each person she met. Jackie was a committed educator, a passionate artist, and a comic of sorts, but her real and abiding passions were her family and friends. Jackie will be missed by many and is survived by her husband of 60 years, Max, her three sons, Paul, Tom and Matt, her five granddaughters, Jamie, Carly, Katie, Gianna and Sophia and her brother Paul. Jackie will be remembered with a Mass at Saint Peter and Paul church at 4450 Granite Drive in Rocklin, CA on Saturday, February 9th at 10:30 am with a Celebration of Life to follow.
