

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and one brother. He was the last of his generation of family.
The family moved to southern California during the depression and worked at dairy farming until he graduated from high school. Jim joined the army air corps during WWII and served in the European theater.
He married the love of his life, Catherine “Cassie” Baumeister, on Flag Day, June 14, 1947, after his return from the war. He always reminded Cassie that everyone celebrated their anniversary by putting the flags on display.
Most of his life he worked as a flooring contractor and owned his own business in the Sacramento area for over 25 years.
Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter and basketball fan. He spent many seasons with family and friends doing what he loved best. He really enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his ability to produce luscious tomatoes and supplied the neighborhood with the abundance.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 64 years and his three children: James “Ray” Eidson II (Carol), Karen Hendricks (Charles), and Patty Hall (Tom), five grandsons: Rick, Jim, Tony, Curtis, and Mike, and five great-grand children: Emma, Sam, Dylan, Cooper, and Tyler.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation/Rosary on Wednesday, June 1st from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Mount Venon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks CA 95628. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 2 at noon at St. Lawrence Catholic Church 4325 Don Julio Blvd, North Highlands CA 95660, burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 7101 Verner Ave, Sacramento CA 95841.
