

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1930. Hard times brought him to a Catholic orphanage from age 9 thru 18. After leaving the orphanage, he joined the US Air Force where he quickly earned his GED and AA degree.
His love of life won him promotions and a career in the aerospace arena serving satellite installations around the world. Upon retiring in 1969 as SMSGT, he earned a BS degree. Jim served worldwide as well as many stateside locations.
He began a second career as Project Control Manager for the NATO AWACS project with a German Aerospace Company, and then Director of International Operations for a worldwide newspaper company.
Jim attempted retirement at age 63 but was coaxed into working with IBM, managing a new project with California Child Case Management Systems.
At age 72, Jim retired for good and delved into his cycling, skiing, golfing with friends and family. He loved travel, reading, backpacking, symphony, ballet, and dancing with his wife Susan. He was an avid birdwatcher, naturalist, and art enthusiast.
His most prized moments were his moments with his family. He had a monumental influence on everyone he met. His charisma, passion, and caring were an example in all our lives. Jim was a Boy Scout Leader, Football Coach, Baseball Coach, Patriot, businessmen, mentor to many, a wonderful husband, exceptional father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Susan; his children: Brian, Theresa, Mike, Jim, Lorna, Scott, and their spouses; 18 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and brother Bill Farrell. He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Imelda, son Timothy and granddaughter Carmel.
