Jeanette Arlene Gilbertson

She departed this life on August 6, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born to Alfred and Mary Sanda on March 27, 1924 in Glendive, Montana. She attended Concordia College, Moorhead, MN before transferring to Fairview Hospital School of Nursing, Minneapolis, MN where she graduated and received her RN degree in May 1945. She married Ensign Donald B. Gilbertson, US Navy, on June 15, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church, Glendive, MT.

Her husband became a minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and they served congregations in Elk River, MN, Conrad, MT and Sacramento, CA during his years of active ministry. She was employed by the Sacramento County Health Department for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1982. After retiring, Jeanette and Don made their home in Orangevale, CA. They have been active members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Christ the King Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church of the Resurrection over the past 53 years in the Sacramento area. Throughout her life, Jeanette was an active church choir member and soloist. Jeanette was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves in passing her husband, Donald Gilbertson; two daughters, Donna Andersen of Morro Bay, CA; Mary (Mark) Havens of Bigfork, MT; two sons, Paul (Lisa) Gilbertson of Granite Bay, CA and Bruce (Annette) Gilbertson of Gold River, CA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her only sibling, George A. Sanda, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 6365 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay, CA, with reception to follow. There will be a private interment for the family at Mount Vernon Memorial Park.

Memorials may be given to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection or a charitable organization of your choosing.
