

John William Henderson, of Gold River, passed away on June 3, 2017 at the age of 84. John Henderson ‘Bud’ ‘Papa’ was born in Pana Illinois on July 29, 1932. He graduated from Pana High and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for 30 years and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, John worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. John met his wife Doris Henderson (Hauser) while stationed in Germany and they married on November 15, 1958. John is remembered by his wife Doris, son Michael Henderson (Lisa), daughter Carole Klingensmith (Dave), and grandchildren Lauren, Matthew, Alexander, Nicholas, Abby, great-granddaughter Cora and loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives. John is preceded in death by parents Roy Henderson and Ann Henderson, and six siblings.
John Henderson had many interests and hobbies. He volunteered at Kaiser Hospital, enjoyed watching movies, attending Broadway Shows, baking (he made a mean pound cake!), traveling and cruising around the world, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. His most cherished memories were times spent vacationing with his family and grandkids by the beach. John leaves behind a trail of good deeds and a life well lived that has richly blessed all who knew him. John, ‘Bud,’ ‘Papa,’ will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Mount Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks. John will be laid to rest on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
